Coca-Cola

The classic Coca-Cola glass bottle is one of the most iconic shapes in the drinks industry. Whatever the shape of the bottle reminds you of, it always brings to mind the global brand that is Coca-Cola.

This work seeks to challenge the instant perception and feeling of the familiar by replacing one element with the pāua shell. The dark brown colour of the Coca-Cola drink has been substituted.

The final amount of pāua drink that is left in the bottom of the bottle is slowly being sucked out through the straw to the waiting world around.

If we could actually drink pāua shell, what properties would it bestow on us and like the Coca-Cola advertising slogans, would we be able to 'taste the feeling?'

Dimensions	500 mm x 500 mm
Production	Solid wooden frames with composite layers that are hand painted with acrylic and oil-based paints. Pieces of thin shell are added as inlay details, and clear epoxy resin used to provide visual emphasis.
