Lighthouse

A lighthouse can be seen as a symbol of permanence and a very long lasting structure. They are built to endure the worst of the elements while providing their protective flashing light in the darkness.

The inside of the pāua shell also has powerful light enhancing ability and, rather than warning the viewer, seems to draw your eye closer to see inside the oily patterns and shimmering colours.

The inclusion of the pāua shell in this work certainly adds a colourful ladder of glossy beauty that drawers the eye upward towards the lighthouse light at the top.

Dimensions	500 mm x 500 mm
Production	Solid wooden frames with composite layers that are hand painted with acrylic and oil-based paints. Pieces of thin shell are added as inlay details, and clear epoxy resin used to provide visual emphasis.
