Mayfly
One of my lasting memories of the spring and summertime are the dancing mayflies on a beautiful trout stream.
In the insect world this magnificent fly belongs to the order Ephemeroptera. This is part of the same group that includes dragonflies and damselflies.
The Mayfly is a beautiful example of a winged insect and upon close inspection of the intricate wings in the sunlight, they have a shimmering iridescence that parallels with the oily looking reflective sheen on the pāua shell.
