R2D2 is one of those cheeky little Star Wars characters who quickly steals the heart of the movie watcher and confirms instantly that he is a good guy!

The only communication features he displays are the quirky chirps, beeps and noises, along with the flashing colourful lights around his head and body. If R2D2 had a face it would surely feature these dancing lights.

Including the pāua shell in these specific, expressive features in this work seemed the best way to inject a portion of liveliness to an otherwise lifeless robot form.

Dimensions	500 mm x 500 mm
Production	Solid wooden frames with composite layers that are hand painted with acrylic and oil-based paints. Pieces of thin shell are added as inlay details, and clear epoxy resin used to provide visual emphasis.
