Superman

The powerful Superman logo is anything but 'mild mannered' as per the humble description of Clark Kent. With it's bold, challenging, red colour, this symbol truly is a stamp for freedom and liberty.

The inclusion of the pāua shell in this work seemed a perfectly natural choice to further enhance the strength and resilience of this shield of protection.

Pāua shell has mysterious qualities like that of Superman. It alludes to being something from another planet, with twists and swirls in its natural patterns that seem to breath life into the whole entity.

So, if 'Super' beings were to choose an earthly symbol of power, strength, and enduring resilience, it would surely be the pāua shell.

Production	Solid wooden frames with composite layers that are hand painted with acrylic and oil-based paints. Pieces of thin shell are added as inlay details, and clear epoxy resin used to provide visual emphasis.
