Making the First Large Mini Concrete Cows
Many people have asked us how the Mini Concrete Cows are made and so we thought be had better share a few photos to illustrate the process.
After a couple of failed clay model attempts the final cow model was agreed upon. This was carefully smoothed over and a silicon rubber mould was cast around it. Once housed in a wooden frame this is ready for the concrete.
Just plain old builders concrete mix is used for the large Mini Concrete Cows. It is hand mixed in a bucket and carefully troweled into the mould before a lot of shaking and vibrating helps to settle the wet concrete and remove some of the largest air bubbles. Once the concrete is hard the cow can be removed from the mould.
Any major air bubbles are filled and then the cow is painted. There are quite a few layers of paint to get it to its finished state.
Then the process is repeated. More Mini Concrete Cows are born.
