Over time we will be adding a collection of categorised troubleshooting tips and hints here to help with the most common concerns we and others face.

Troubleshooting Basics

When faced with a problem with one or more of your smart home devices we recommend the following first steps:

• Turn the power for the device OFF and then ON again after about 30 seconds
• If the device uses batteries check that they are charged enough and replace if in any doubt
• Restart any connected hub and/or the network router
• Check that the network is working properly and if using Wifi that the device is in range (you can often try moving the device to either be hard wired to the network or very close to the Wifi router)
• Update the firmware on the device
• Check you have named the device properly and that there are no conflicts with other devices in your collection
• Check with the plan you made originally and make sure the implementation is still as you wanted it to be

You can reach out to them by posting a message on the SHEALD Facebook page (and other social media channels.) As you gain experience you can also reply to the questions of others and share your own experience.
